Seeings how Catherine is going to be teaching you all the basics about self worth, I thought you might enjoy hearing how I have been personally influenced by some of the advice she and I will be giving you. This week, Catherine and I have decided to focus on physical health and how it plays a big role in one's mental and emotional well being.
Story Time!
My first love broke up with me February 6th. At first, I convinced myself I was okay and pretended like nothing happened, but I got much much worse over the next few days. That first weekend without him was the toughest. I spent the afternoon curled up in a blanket, surrounded by 20 or so Beanie Babies just crying watching Alice in Wonderland. After taking a good look at myself, I realized I needed to do something that didn't involve wallowing in self pity. So, I forced myself to get up and exercise. A couple of 20 pound dumbbells and really crappy dubstep were apparently just what I needed to put a smile on my face. I felt so much better- I had more confidence in my physical abilities, I didn't feel like I was wasting my time doing nothing, and all the exercise released "happy chemicals" in my brain that naturally changed my mood. After that, whenever I started to miss him, I put on some music and did a few bicep curls. This was the best way to cope with the pain and get immediate gratification, but there were other steps I took to reconnect with myself and become content with who I am. I'll be sure to discuss those later. Until then, happy living!

Here is a video we used for our project at school. We showed this in a powerpoint presentation about eating disorders and their physical and mental effects. We chose this because she doesn't just talk about the physical aspects of this, but the mental as well. Watch the video and tell us what you think!
